Congratulations to Elliot Atwell who will play his 50th game this weekend!
A huge weekend and a long time coming to celebrate Ells’ 50th. I’ve had a lot of footy scraps with him over the years, but playing alongside him for a few seasons has by far been the most enjoyable.
We played our first game together for the Eagles back in 2019 when he was in Year 12, and he wasted no time giving me a bake after I gave away a 50. He also came on as our best player the few times we could get him away from the First XVIII. Winning best finals player that year is something I still hear from him way too often.
After a couple of years away from the club, we were all so excited when he came back and slotted straight into the senior backline. I was honoured to present him with his jersey and watch him go to work.
I’ve loved seeing him get more involved in the club and even drag his mates down too. If it wasn’t for that shocking knee of his, we could’ve played his 50th together, but nevertheless, I’m sure we haven’t played our last game side by side.
Go well mate, keep those cheap touches from full back coming.
Josh Atwell
