Congratulations to Thirds Vice-Captain Tom Brugliera who will play his 50th game for the Eagles this weekend!
Congratulations to Tom Brugliera on 50 games with the Marcellin Old Boys Football Club.
Tom joined MOFC in 2022 after graduating from Marcellin College in 2017. (Tom graduated as the college dux of 2017, for what it’s worth.) He joined the football club post-COVID, and from the outset, Tom’s passion for the game was obvious to everyone. He would attend nearly every training session and put his hand up for every game.
Over the years, it has been a pleasure to watch him develop. Tom is a hard-running winger and half-back flanker who is always able to find space and make those around him better players. He also has the ability to win his own ball, putting his head over the contest and securing contested possession. In recent weeks, I’ve seen Tom add contested marking to his repertoire, which highlights the dedication he shows to improving his game. Tom is indeed a formidable opponent for any opposition.
Tom’s nickname is Doc due to his occupation, as he is a doctor. If there is ever a head knock or injury on the field, the first person we all turn to is Tom (whether he likes it or not). This shows the trust and respect we have for him as a team.
I’m lucky enough to consider Tom a good friend of mine, and it has been a pleasure to get to know him on and off the field. I’m sure the thirds will all get up this week and put in a big performance for Doc’s 50th.
