Womens Coaching Announcement

The Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club is proud to announce that Paul Harvey has been appointed as our Senior Womens Head Coach for the 2023 season.

Paul has had an extensive coaching background, namely at a junior level with the Hawthorn Citizens. He has seen some great success coaching the club to Gold Division (Division 1) for the first time in its history where he also made history in 2010, as he led his team to the clubs first ever Premiership in Gold Division where they went undefeated and for his efforts he was named AFL Australian Junior Coach of the Year in that year. Paul has more recently worked as an Assistant, with the Richmond U/15 Girls in 2018, the Marcellin U19s in 2019 and with the Reserves Womens in 2022.

Further to this Paul has been a fantastic member of our great club for some time, where he has represented the club in both the Old Collegians and the Bald Eagles. He was a member of the Bald Eagles Premiership teams in 2001 and 2002 and also served as a coach. As recognition for his efforts Paul was awarded Life Membership in 2022.

In a message to the playing group Paul said “I’m well aware that Marcellin Womens’ footy has a successful history and is made up of quality people. That is the most important thing to me. Quality footballers can be moulded but quality people makes it all so much more fun”.

Joining in Assistant roles are Mark Rice and Rod Heath, who together will provide over 40 years of football experience to our Womens program. Outgoing Senior Womens Coach Luke Boyd will remain a part of the program in an advisory role, and will assist both Paul and the playing group in the transition. We will have further announcements soon about other additions to our Womens coaching panel.

We are excited for Paul to help develop our strong Womens program which kicks off on Wednesday 8 February with the return to pre-season training. There will be an Information Session following this training in which the players and families will have a chance to meet our coaches as well as have dinner provided for them.
