Special congratulations to Mark Andros who will take the field for his 100th game this weekend against Mazenod in the Reserves Preliminary Final!
A huge congratulations to the Mark “The Prince” Andros for playing his 100th game this weekend in Marcellin Reserves Preliminary Final. A Preliminary final is the kind of game you love walking out alongside Prince, as you know he could deliver anything in the big stage.
Prince joined the Old Collegians in 2016, fresh off an AGSV first XVIII premiership, and where he could have sought coin elsewhere, he opted to stay loyal to his Eagles. Dros’ skill set and leadership were rightfully honoured with captaincy duties in the under 19s, and further so by a round 5 senior debut vs Old Camberwell.
From here, Dros would split his time between senior and reserve teams, with injury, team balance and the occasional brunch holding him back.
As the years passed, Prince deemed his royal talents were best suited in the forward half of the ground, and has rarely been sighted in the defensive 50 since. To this day, I believe this may be the reason that the Prince was not awarded the full 15 votes for his 6 goal, 30 touch performance in a round 22 win vs Ormond in 2022. Either that, or out of sympathy for Prince’s lowly opponent, who Dros laughed at as his third goal for the quarter sailed through the big ones; regardless it was a special performance from our Prince and he deserved more than the 14 votes he received.
If a coach could clone a player to have one down back, one up forward and one in the middle, they would be foolish not to clone our Prince.
Coming from a very supportive family, where a piece of sporting equipment is never out of reach, the Marcellin community would like to thank Ross, Dani, Justin, Matt and partner Amy for their support of Mark.
Please join me in wishing The Prince a happy 100th game, please get behind him as the reserves continue their quest for premiership glory.
