Joel Cunningham to coach Reserves Mens, Dennet Merton and Matt Russell to be Senior Assistants

The Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club is excited to announce the appointments of Joel Cunningham (Reserves Mens Head Coach), Matt Russell (Senior Mens Assistant Coach) and the re-appointment of Dennet Merton (Senior Mens Assistant Coach) to its coaching panel for the 2024 season.

Joel is a past player of the club, making 73 appearance between 2014 and 2022 for the Eagles. Joel joined the coaching panel of the Reserves in 2021 as an Assistant to Thomas Black, where he helped guide the team to consistent success including their recent Preliminary Final appearance. Further to this, Joel also sits on the club committee as our Treasurer in which he has played an instrumental role in helping turn the clubs financial position. With a strong connection to the current and past playing group, Joel will be an excellent fit for our Reserves group and we are excited to see him continue the teams improvement for years to come.

We are also excited to welcome Matt Russell into the role of Senior Mens Assistant Coach. Matt has served the last two years as the Under 19s Head Coach, highlighted by their recent Grand Final appearance for the first time in 10 years. Another coach with a strong connection to our playing group, we are excited to have Matt support new Senior Coach Bernie Dinneen and bring his expertise to the group. Dennet Merton also rejoins our Senior Mens coaching panel for his third year as a Senior Assistant.
