Callum Brown joins the Eagles

The Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club is thrilled to announce that Callum Brown has committed to the club for the 2023 season.

Cal made his First XVIII debut for Marcellin College in 2014 as a Year 10 student, in which he was an integral part of the 2015 and 2016 AGSV Premierships. In his final year before being drafted he represented Vic Metro in the national championships as well as being named in the 2016 TAC Cup Team of the Year.

He graduated in 2016, after which he was awarded the Terrance Cleary Memorial Award for Sporting Excellence by the College as well as being selected at pick 35 by Collingwood in the 2016 AFL Draft as a Father Son selection.

Cal made his AFL debut in 2017, running out for the Queens Birthday clash where he picked up 16 disposals in his first game. From there he had a successful career in the black and white playing 70 games across six seasons including a superb 2019 campaign, appearing in 22 games including both the Qualifying and Preliminary Final. He parted ways with Collingwood at the end of 2022 and has since joined the Box Hill Hawks, where he has been outstanding throughout pre-season training and practice matches and will look to continue to dominate in the VFL where he averaged 26.5 disposals in 2022.

Given his close friendship group makes up a majority of our Senior playing list, including fellow housemate Lachy Rush, the opportunity to play football with his mates was a key reason for him committing to the Nest and returning to the Bray Oval in 2023, making it a perfect fit for Cal to call Marcellin home once again.

Cal is excited for the opportunity to take the field again with his best mates for the first time since the AGSV Grand Final in 2016, a thrilling game of football featuring many of our current Senior list.

Although his time on the field will be limited due to his VFL commitments, his skill, experience and personality will be a significant asset to our football club and we are excited to welcome him into the Eagles community.

We are very excited for this announcement on the eve of the 2023 season and we look forward to the wider Marcellin community welcoming Cal with open arms.
