Round 6 Milestone Games – Matthew Molloy

We congratulate Matty on hitting the 100 game milestone this weekend against Monash. I have had the pleasure of playing with Matty for more than a decade and I can safely say that he is one of the toughest footballers that I have ever played with. In the modern game, contested ball is such an important statistic and Matty is one of the few who wins his own footy. You know that when Matty is around the stoppage or when the ball is in dispute, more often than not he will get his hands on it and give the team first use. Matty is also a ferocious tackler, typically racking up double digit figures...

Round 6 Milestone Game – Jonathan Blanch

One of the best to ever do it, we congratulate Blanchy on this massive achievement! This Saturday Jono Blanch will run out in the maroon, blue and gold in his 200th game for the club. Spanning over 14 years Jono has developed into a great leader and true clubman both on and off the field. From his debut game in 2007 for the U/19 Premier side Jono developed a consistent brand of football known for being tough in the contest, a running machine and a good user of the football. His devotion to improving his skills and focus on maintaining his fitness allowed him to cement his position in the Senior...

Round 4 Milestone Games

Congratulations to Daniel McMahon who plays his 150th game this weekend and Luca Zanella who plays his 50th. Daniel McMahon (D-Mac) announced himself early on, kicking a bag of 9 goals for the 2009 U/19’s whilst still in school. Too good for the U/19 competition, he quickly found himself as a permanent starter for our senior team in Premier A Grade. This is where he took VAFA Mark of the Year after climbing on Old Scotch full backs shoulders at Elsternwick Park (see the mark here).D-Mac is a man who knows where the goals are. You’ll find our #25 crashing...

Round 3 Milestone Games

Congratulations to Aidan Prato who plays his 50th game this weekend against Ormond. Aidan came to the Old Boys as an 18-year-old bulky rugby player with long curly hair. He quickly established himself as the centre half back in Simon Abraham’s formidable under 19s side. In paying homage to the Wu Tang Clan, Aidan would often say “Protect the Nest” before home games. This slogan would later be hijacked by Simon Abrahams as a mantra for the entire club. The highlight of his season came late in the year when during a warmup, a rogue football hit him in the temple. He decided he was...

Round 2 Milestone Games

Congratulations to Matthew Capetola who reaches 50 games this weekend. Cappa has been a much loved member of the MOCFC since joining the club in 2017 and has been regular in the senior side often sighted across the half forward line setting up scores or playing a significant role for the team. I’ve played footy with Cappa since Year 7 at Marcellin and we have shared many great moments both on and off the field together. He is the type of bloke you love playing with, as he is always prepared to perform a selfless act and is ultra-reliable.Cappa is an enigma on the field, as he will often...

Round 1 Milestone Games

Congratulations to Jeremiah Antypas on reaching 100 games this weekend in the Senior Mens Team against UHS-VU. Jeramiah Antypas burst onto the scene for the U19’s of Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club in 2013. A fast, athletic, tall forward with a deadly set shot, he soon caught the eye of the senior coaches, earning him a senior debut as an 18 year old. 2014 was when ‘Jez’ cemented his spot in the team, playing every game and being awarded the ‘Rising Eagle’ award for best young player. It was clear from early on that the former chubby curly haired small forward...
