Congratulations to Reserves Vice Captain Courtney Taylor who will run out for her 50th game this weekend!
This coming Saturday we will be celebrating the one and only Courtney Taylor’s 50th game. We always talk about how important a good culture is at a footy club and since her debut for the Sheagles in 2018, Court has enriched the women’s program with infectious positivity, love and care for her teammates. I have had the absolute pleasure of connecting with Court and I now would say she’s one of my best mates. She is the epitome of what a leader in any football team should be. Reliable, nurturing, tough and leads the backline week in and week out. Court was also an important member of the 2018 Reserves premiership and the 2021 undefeated season.
One of Court’s best attributes is that she will give support to any one of her teammates, whether she’s known them for one day or four years. You always know if something is on your mind, Court is there to listen and support you.
To me Court is many things, she’s a great footy player, incredible friend, a teacher, great leader and of course, Shotney. Shotney is an alter ego who likes to show her face on Saturday nights around 7pm as the girls are rolling in for pre drinks ordering everyone to do shots, she then reappears every hour or so after. I mentioned Court’s infectious positivity before, however I attribute this to peer pressure skills, Shotney is a difficult person to say no to and featuring on her Instagram account is one of the highest honours a Sheagle can obtain. Becoming so close with Court has had such a positive impact on my life, her friendship also makes me reflect on my high school English teachers and I wonder about what they got up to on their Saturday nights.
I can’t wait to run out with you on Saturday and share a special milestone with you, welcome to the 50 club can’t wait to see what Shotney gets up to on Saturday night!
